Women's Ministry:Our mission is "to encourage and support women by providing opportunities
to seek God, to love God, and to love one another." Whether looking for fellowship, a Bible study, or service groups,
all women can find a place at Main Street UMC to connect.
If you want more information, feel free to email us
at info@mainstreetumc.net or call us at 618-462-2495.
Tuesday Morning Bible StudyThis class is a great way to meet other women while delving further into God’s Word whether you are a beginner or a seasoned Bible scholar. Class meets on Tuesdays, 9:00-10:30 am and will complete 2 Bible studies per year, one during January-April and the other September-November. Study guides are used and open discussion takes place during each lesson. Participate as little or as much as you would like. You will never be singled out or made to feel as if you have to give your opinion.
Chi RhoWomen who enjoy getting together for a fun evening of fellowship while working on service projects can join us on the second Thursday of each month, September-May, 7:00 pm. Some of our projects include: make visits and send cards to homebound members, donate needed supplies or provide monetary assistance to community organizations, and ringing the bell for Salvation Army during the Christmas season.
Strong Women Stay YoungThis exercise class is offered on Mondays at 9:00 am & 2:00 pm and Thursdays at 9:00 am. It is designed to help women between 40-80 years old, although all ages can benefit, to turn back the hands of time. As a progressive strength-training routine, women can achieve certain measures of youth: denser bones, better balance and flexibility, more strength and energy than women years younger.
Hearts & HandsOur knitting and crocheting group meets on the 1st Thursday of each month at 6:30 pm. They work on various projects throughout the year such as prayer shawls, baby items, hats, mittens and scarves for Riverbend Head Start children, Warm Up America Afghans, and lap blankets for those in nursing homes. Book StudyThis is a great group of women who have a passion for reading and sharing their feelings about books with other women. They meet to discussed their current book selection on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month at 5:00 pm at the United Methodist Village on Alby St., Godfrey. Due to conflicts with some upcoming holidays, the meeting days have changed somewhat for the next several weeks. We will meet on the following Sundays (same time and place): May 5, and May 19.
QuiltersNot too many people quilt by hand any more, but this group does! Any woman who would love to help them quilt is invited to join them each Wednesday, 8:00 am-1:00 pm. Even if you have never picked up a needle, it’s ok! They will be glad to teach you!
BuncoWhat is Bunco, you might ask? It is a social dice game originating in the late 1800s and tons of fun! If you want to learn (or maybe you’re a seasoned pro looking for a place to play) then join our ladies on the 4th Monday of each month at 7:00 pm. Bring a friend, bring a snack, we’ll supply the dice, and let the fun begin!
