Main Street United Methodist Church
Thursday, February 23, 2012

The classic definition of worship is "ascribing praise and worth to God." At Main Street, this is the heart of worship, expressed in two different styles in our Sunday morning services and a Sunday evening service. The Pastor's Sunday message is the similar for all morning services.

There are 4 different service times offered on Sunday

8:00am Traditional service offered at United Methodist Village

This is a traditional but casual worship service at the chapel at the United Methodist Village off of Alby Road in Godfrey.  Children of all ages are welcomed and are not considered a distraction but a blessing.  (We love their noises.)  Classic and gospel hymns are used in a traditional order of worship.  The service lasts approximately 50 minutes with coffee following.  (Donuts are brought in on the last Sunday of each month.)

9:00 am Contemporary (includes a children's moment)

Led by the Resound singers and band, the flow of worship focuses on honoring God through contemporary Christian music, informal prayer and a simple format that encourages Christians to connect with one another as well as with Christ, in a service lasting approximately 50 minutes.

11:15am Traditional

Christ is glorified through the singing of classic hymns, mixed with occasional gospel and seasoned contemporary music, a weekly anthem by the sanctuary choir, and reconnection with the historic faith through the great creeds and prayers of the church, a service lasting approximately 50 minutes.
