WOMEN'S MINISTRIES

Our mission is "to encourage and support women by providing opportunities to seek God, to love God, and to love one another."

Whether looking for fellowship, a Bible study, or service groups, all women can find a place at Main Street UMC to connect.

In addition to all of our various small groups, our Women's Ministry as a whole plans various events, trips, luncheons, retreats, etc. throughout the year.  All women are invited to attend any of them!  We also participate in a Secret Sister program and every January we reveal our secret sisters and then draw a new one for the next year.  Being a Secret Sister involves praying for your sister, maybe remembering her with a card on a birthday or anniversary, and maybe even an occasional small gift just because.  Come join us!

Tuesday Morning Bible Study

Bible Study

We are currently working on new Bible study classes.  Check back soon for more information.

Women's Book Club

Due to COVID, this group has been on a break.  Keep watching to see when they plan to resume.

This is a great group of women who have a passion for reading and sharing their feelings about books with other women.  They meet to discuss their current book selection on an announced Sunday of each month at 4:30 pm.

Hearts and Hands

Hearts and Hands Knitting and Crocheting Group

Due to COVID, this group has been meeting sparingly; however, they are hoping to start up again very soon.  If you would be interest in joining, please contact the church, 618-462-2495.  We will let the ladies know who would like to participate.  Please note, there could be a change in day and time depending on what works for those wishing to meet.

Our knitting and crocheting group meets on the 1st Thursday of each month at  6:30 pm.  They work on various projects throughout the year such as prayer shawls, baby items, hats, mittens and scarves for Riverbend Head Start children, Warm Up  America Afghans, and lap blankets for those in nursing homes.

Chi Rho Service Group

This group has also been taking a break but they are looking to start up again.  Typically they meet September-May.  Be watching for their September meeting date.

Women who enjoy getting together for a fun afternoon of fellowship while working on service projects can join us on the second Thursday of each month, September-May, 1:30 pm.  Some of our projects include:  make visits and send cards to homebound members, donate needed supplies or provide monetary assistance to community organizations, and ringing bells for Salvation Army kettles during the Christmas season.

Strong Women Stay Young

This exercise class is offered on Mondays and Thursdays at 10:00 am.  It is designed to help women between 40-80 years old, although all ages can benefit to turn back the hands of time.  As a progressive strength-training routine, women can achieve certain measures of youth: denser bones, better balance and flexibility, more strength and energy than women years younger.
